Deftones – Koi No Yokan

Few bands in the world today command so much respect, from fans and peers alike, as Deftones. And rightly so – the raw power in their music is simply breathtaking. ‘Koi No Yokan’ (Japanese for ‘love at first sight’) has its fair share of crunching riffs, but equally impressive are the soaring choruses and atmospheric touches, all mixed with a subtlety that few other ‘heavy’ bands achieve. With bassist Cheng Chi still in a coma following a 2008 car crash, many bands might’ve folded. But Deftones have forged on, and on ‘Koi No Yokan’, they are often in a class of their own.
