The Ting Tings – Sounds From Nowheresville

2/5

Track to download: Hang It Up

Personal prejudice (even against bands who sound like a prepubescent Beastie Boys) has no place in an objective review. But pre-existing hatred aside, this album is disappointing.

There are interesting moments: Soul Killing’s mock-ska is quite good. In Your Life has nice cello. Guggenheim’s spoken Leader-of-the-Pack-style intro is great if you ignore the lyrics, but spends 4 minutes going nowhere.

Sadly, these moments are all from second-half filler tracks. Painful attempts at ‘big’ tracks (like overblown opener Silence, or the catchy yet tuneless Hang it Up) fall flat. TTT are a singles band with no new single.

Poor kids.
