Breton – Other People’s Problems

3/5

Track to download: Edward The Confessor

Aiming for halfway between Burial and Bloc Party (musically & alphabetically), Breton have stumbled into originality along the way. An uneven album, but at its best showing flashes of genius. Lead single Edward the Confessor is one such flash; a strangely danceable cacophony of electronic beats, violins and over-wrought fuzzed-up vocals. Closer The Commission is another, with its waves of melancholy synth. Sadly, there’s a five-track-long lull in between, which the wonderfully atmospheric background noises can’t quite save.

Don’t buy this album: Spotify it, then buy the good bits.
