Cambridge Cinderellas: fashionably ever after

Rebecca Thomas 19 October 2014

In need of a footwear Fairy Godmother? House of Fraser launches Cambridge Cinderella’s campaign to celebrate the opening of a new store.

Finding a solitary, abandoned shoe around Cambridge is no longer an amusing sign of last night’s revelry. House of Fraser has launched ‘Cambridge Cinderella’s’: an exciting local promotional campaign to celebrate the new store opening at Caffè Nero on Fitzroy Street.

The department store has placed twenty-three ‘Lost’ posters advertising single, missing shoes, from brands including Kurt Geiger, Steve Madden, Linea, LK Bennett, and Hugo Boss, which have been hidden in locations around Cambridge. When found, the lucky Cinderella can return their single shoe to the new House of Fraser store in exchange for a free pair in their size.

The campaign was established by creative agency ‘18 Feet & Rising’ who have been appointed to handle the retailer’s advertising strategy. “For the campaign we wanted to create something that was unique to its location and captured a sense of that place; it’s history, architecture, people or the feeling you have when you are there,” says Alex Delaney of 18 Feet & Rising, “but at the same time it was important for us to retain the irreverent and playful tone that we’ve introduced to the brand – something that gets people excited and curious.”

Luckily, you have longer than the stroke of midnight to find your missing glass slipper. The competition went live on Wednesday 15th October for the opening of the new store on Thursday 16th, but there are still many shoes on the loose.

Clues concerning the whereabouts of the elusive shoes can be found on the @cam_cinderella twitter account, which urges you to tweet your Cambridge Cinderella finds.

Dreaming of stilettos, boots and brogues? Keep your eyes peeled. You may get the chance to live happily ever after.
