Cambridge netball notch up another crushing win

Holly Gilbertson 7 November 2013

The netball Blues got their cup campaign up and running at the sports centre on Wednesday afternoon with a victory over Coventry’s third team.

The visiting side went into the game as underdogs but the Light Blues had no intentions of getting complacent and maintained the tempo throughout. The Coventry defence refused to be turned over, and continued to fight on well in to the fourth quarter, but Cambridge grew increasingly relentless.

Fresher Izzy Bell and Vice-Captain Sophie Hussey scarcely missed opportunities in the circle, while inspired mid-court performances from Emily Coulter and Tamara Slater saw the latter earn her first Player of the Match award for the team.

The result will boost the Blues ahead of their return to BUCS next week.
