Cambridge Pythons beat UEA 22-6

The Cambridge Pythons defeated UEA 22-6 to move up to second place in their BUCS division.
The Light Blues took the lead through Joe Moore, who burst around the Pirates’ defence for a 36-yard touchdown. Jonty Richardson converted to put Cambridge up 8-0. However, UEA fought back with four consecutive run attempts, causing Cambridge to go three-and-out and punt the ball away as the first quarter came to a close.
At the start of the second quarter, UEA scored on a 13-yard pass for a touchdown to reduce Cambridge’s lead to 8-6. Excellent runs made by the Blues saw them score again before half-time to lead 16-6.
The Pythons were determined not to let UEA back into the match in the second half. They quickly muscled their way downfield, which ended in a one-yard score that extended Cambridge to 22-6. In the last quarter, Cambridge defended their lead and saw out the match 22-6.
A win next week against Canterbury will secure a playoff berth for Cambridge in the National Championships alongside the top fifteen teams in the country.
