Cambridge defeated Cardiff 22-4 as their Varsity Match preparations continue.
The host started well, with assistant captain Eric Kroshus scoring the opener within 90 seconds.  A minute later, Kroshus collected a pass from Ben McDonald and fired in the second goal. Cardiff replied shortly after with a goal just after the three minute mark.
At this point, the Cambridge offense stepped up and stretched Cardiff with excellent passes and structured attacks. In the next ten minutes, the top line of Kroshus, Julien Gagnon, Danny Burns and Kyle Oskvig turned on the fire, netting seven unanswered goals.  Ben McDonald and Oscar Wilsby scored before the first period expired to put Cambridge up 12-1.
The exhausted Cardiff squad conceded another six goals, including goals from Oskvig and Dave Brassard.  Nonetheless, Cardiff continued to test the Cambridge defense and scored two quick goals at the end of the second period to up the tally to 18-3.
The final period saw another four goals by the Light Blues and a consolation for Cardiff. The away team showed tremendous effort and their goalkeeper was particularly commendable, facing more than 70 shots from Cambridge.
