End of an era for Secret Garden Party

Matt Gurtler 2 March 2017

For 15 years, Cambridgeshire has played host to the “Secret Garden Party”, a three day event, whose organisers are adamant that it is not a festival, but a party. Being held on the 20-23 July, this year’s party will be the last.

The news was announced on the organisers’ website in the format of a letter from the “Head Gardener”. In the letter, he wrote “’All good things must come to an end’ and so it is, I announce today that this summer will host the last Secret Garden Party as we know it.

“What better way to honour the love that has been given to this project and wholly demonstrate this principle, than going out with a bang.”

The announcement letter was signed “As ever with Peace, Love and Tree Hugging Hippy Shit, Your Head Gardener.”

The event started as a relatively small gathering of 500 people and has since grown, attracting 26,000 people in 2011.
Having featured Clean Bandit as a headliner in the past, the final Secret Garden Party will be headlined by Crystal Fighters, Metronomy and Toots & The Maytals. Tickets for the event are still available and cost £197 for the weekend, including a booking fee.
