EXCLUSIVE: Caius May Ball headliners announced

Tom Richardson 24 May 2016

Shura, Loyle Carner and Nero will perform at the ‘Praeturnaturalia’ themed May Ball in three weeks time.

With two BBC Sound of the Year nominees in Shura, and Loyle Carner, and a Grammy award winner in Nero, the committee told TCS an “urban influence” ran through the lineup of “contrasting styles, rising stars and heavy hitters”.

Nero’s first studio album ‘Welcome Reality’ reached number one in the UK, while single ‘Promises’ achieved gold status. Also delivering an electronica sound, Shura’s music embraces R&B and pop, with her debut album ‘Nothing’s Real’, and including hit single ‘Touch’ set for release in July.

Loyle Carner’s music has been described by the Guardian as “confessional hip-hop”, and by NME as “sensitive and eloquent”. Hailing from South London, his rap, including tracks ‘Ain’t Nothin Changed’ and ‘Stars and Shards’ has dealt with issues close to his heart.

The Ball, promising “a feast for all the senses” in “an intimate embrace of ancient beauty and digital wonders”, sold out shortly after tickets went on sale. Caius’ 2014 headliner, Duke Dumont, has since hit number 2 in the singles chart with ‘Won't Look Back’.

The committee tell TCS they look forward to welcoming you on 14th June.
