“Set to follow in the footsteps of Chase and Status and Rudimental into arena-sized D&B superstardom”
Bristol-based, electronic dance music band Dr Meaker will headline Sidney Sussex’s June Event on 21st June.
Featured on Radio 1’s Live Lounge and one of the UK’s most exciting live dance music acts, Dr Meaker will cement Sidney’s reputation as one of the best of the May Week events. Regulars of the Peckham-based ‘South London Soul Train’, Dr Meaker are also set to return to the eclectic Silver Hayes stage at Glastonbury this summer and are currently on a massive European tour.
Armed with their new album and a killer live energy, Dr Meaker will be the act to see. The eight-piece band are the best for late-night anthems: combining live instruments with samples, studio electronics and huge vocals to create a seamless fusion of what the band have themselves described as their own, unique sound, “splicing together Dirt & Soul to fire up the sound system”.
The theme of Sidney Sussex’s June Event is Childish Things, and in addition to Dr Meaker’s set promises four stages, including the squash courts transformed into an intimate DJ area.
Whilst the attractions are yet to be revealed, the college has a reputation for May Week events that do not disappoint- previous headliners have included Kelis and NAO.
The full line-up is yet to be released.
