This week, The Cambridge Student collaborates with ARK for a playful and brisk fashion shoot. With the usual materials of leather and acrylic, ARK achieves an element of surprise in the design. The slogan, ‘'gifts for interesting people'’, really speaks for the shop. From heritage briefcases to agate stone necklaces, the products at ARK have a sense of sweet eccentricity that we all seek when it comes to buying a present or treating ourselves.

From their liberal ideology to the solemn Chapel, King’s is the maverick of all colleges and the perfect venue for the fashion shoot with ARK. Interrogated by two porters and stared at by people on punts, we blissfully conducted the shoot on a sunny Saturday afternoon, on a piece of lawn at King’s that our humble non-fellow status entitles us to step on.
To me, ARK is like a Cantab version of Lulu Guinness and Charlotte Olympia. The thoughtful use of shapes, whether it is the triangle clutch, the beetle brooch, or the eye clutch, is head-turning. Their statement necklaces and bracelets made of agate stone are fashionably metallic and chunky. Amongst the rebellious accessories, there is also an interesting mix of animal toys (have you spotted the little blue dinosaur popping out of the briefcase?), candelabras, wool scarves and light decorations in stock.
Heather (below on the left) is in her second year at Homerton studying Education with English and Drama. She has done hair modelling before joining us for the first time, hence the rebellious yet dreamy blonde waves!
Ollie (below) is a second-year natsci at Clare. Outside of studying, he enjoys going to formals (a perfect opportunity to try new accessories!) and learning to fly. He is always refining his style, which is to look smart every day: ''You never know who you might bump into!''
Kat (below) is a second-year historian at Murray Edwards. She says if she had to describe herself in two words, she'd say 'hat enthusiast'. Her unreasonable obsessions in life are with green colour and salted caramel. She also modelled in the Whitepepper fashion shoot in Michaelmas term.
Katherine (below) is a third-year bio natsci at John's. She loves badminton, fashion design and Greek food. She is looking forward to venturing out from the Cambridge bubble into the real world and finding a job that she really loves. Last term, she was also a model in the Cambridge Satchel fashion shoot.
Love the lilac rucksack, or the yellow triangle clutch (which was given the name of “dorito” by our models)? Pop into ARK at 1 Peas Hill or visit http://www.arkcambridge.co.uk to find all of the featured products. A new collection is also arriving in store very soon.
