‘Cosmic Origins’, a film made by Durham scientists, has beaten a Disney movie to win the best 3D-film award at the Stereoscopic Displays and Applications conference in Silicon Valley. The film beat a 3D version of the Disney classic Sleeping Beauty. Cosmic Origins is a computer simulation that recounts the history of the universe from the formation of galaxies to the present. It imagines what the universe may have looked like 500 million years after the Big Bang.
