Horseshoe Lake

Ben Vince 30 January 2019

A sinew of light

stretches its arm out,

ample and gracious

like an uncoiling spine,

as we all settle

into the evening’s

shoulder blades,

embracing the peachy

canyon of sunset

that cups hands,

and tells the lifelines

that nothing past

the offshore horizon

can touch this warmth;

nothing, my love –

I tell you, nothing –

can harm any of us tonight.
