The Lucy Cavendish Student Garden Party has been cancelled following underwhelming ticket sales, the event’s Committee today announced.
In a statement recently posted to Facebook, the LCCSGP Committee revealed that the event they had planned to take place on the 16th June is “simply not feasible” due to low ticket sales. Ticket-holders were informed that, following a meeting between the College’s Student Union President, the founders of the garden party and members of College staff, a mutual agreement was reached that their event “cannot continue in its current capacity”.
With the cancellation of their “Nowhere” themed garden party, Lucy Cavendish will join a series of other colleges who were obliged to postpone or call off their events. After both accusations of religious appropriation and disappointing sales, Trinity Hall’s June Event was cancelled whilst the Gonville & Caius May Ball has been postponed until next year as a result of planned refurbishments. Newnham’s Summer Soirée has similarly been axed amid unsatisfactory ticket sales.
All ticket-holders for the cancelled May Week event will have until Friday 25th May to have their tickets refunded.
