“Sandra penetrates Gilbert’s anus with a bottle.” Discuss?

Today, law students were surprised to find a question on their Criminal Law paper asking them to discuss sexual assault at a fictional Cambridge drinking society called ‘The Vizards.' The question involved one student being tricked into same-sex fellatio, another being anally penetrated by a bottle, and a third dying from an infection caused by bad pubic waxing.

Rob, a fresher at Peterhouse, was one of around 200 students to sit the exam. He told TCS; "It was very odd. The offenses described were shockingly weird. I've had an initiation, but it was nothing like this. Do people actually do this kind of thing?"

Phil, a third-year law student, agreed, saying that although the question apparently aimed to be "shockingly close to home", it came across as "quite funny." Detailed theoretical situations are a regular part of the Criminal Law paper, but they are not normally so unusual, or Cambridge-specific.

Sam, a medical student, thought the bizarre death of Richard, a victim of unhygienic waxing, was "unlikely". "It's incredibly rare," he told TCS, "it could happen, but it would have to be caused by flesh-eating bacteria."

The question ran as follows:

"Sandra is President of The Vizards, a College drinking society. She is organising the initiation of new members. After a great deal of alcohol has been drunk, the members of the society form a circle around Billy, Gilbert and Richard who are to be initiated.

(i) Sandra blindfolds Billy and tells him that Tracey will suck his penis. Jonny does so.

(ii) Sandra penetrates Gilbert's anus with a bottle. Although Gilbert appears to resist, and has to be held down by Tracey, he actually enjoys the experience.

(iii) Sandra waxes Richard's pubic hair and pulls it off with such force that she removes a significant part of his skin. The wound becomes infected, but Richard is so embarrassed that he does not get medical help and dies.

Consider what offences, if any, have been committed."

The law faculty were approached for comment, but were unavailable at the time of publication.
