The Cambridge Student has been nominated for a 2014 Guardian Student Media Award, in the category of 'Student website of the year'.

Also up for the award are University of Exeter's Exespose, Nottingham's Impact Nottingham, Sheffield's Forge Today and Warwick's Bell Jar.

Varsity reporter and Cambridge graduate Hannah Wilkinson has also been nominated in 'Student reporter of the year'. Other Cambridge nominees include Annie Forbes and Cal Revely-Calder in the 'Student critic of the year' category.

TCS underwent a website rebrand under the tenure of Louise Ashwell and Dominic Kelly, who commented on the news saying: "When we rebranded TCS in Summer 2013, the most we hoped for was a couple more readers, never mind TCS' first award nomination. We are incredibly proud of the hundreds of writers, photographers, illustrators, editors, sub-editors and more who transformed the TCS website into what it is today."

2014 also saw the first appointment of online only Editors-in-Chief, Joe Whitwell and Becky Alldridge who said: "This is fantastic news - TCS is a relatively new paper in Cambridge, having just celebrated its 15th birthday, so for it to be recognised in this way is a real achievement. Last year the paper underwent a substantial redesign in both print and website to make it more engaging and accessible to students. I could not be more proud to have been part of TCS and this is very well deserved by everyone on the TCS team last year- all their hardwork and commitment has truly paid off.'

The current Editor-in-Chief, Ciara Berry added: "TCS's website has improved massively over the last two years so it's great that the quality and design is being recognised. I am incredibly proud of the entire team, both past and present who have made the site so wonderful, and I hope that we continue to make it bigger and better."
