Stephen Fry has this morning tweeted his support for the Cambridge University European Theatre Group, stating he was "most proud" to be their patron.

The group, which is this year celebrating its 60th anniversary, is one of the oldest theatre groups in Cambridge, and boasts Fry and Derek Jacobi as patrons. On Sunday, as Fry's tweet explained, it will be performing Much Ado About Nothing in London, following a two week European tour.

Their website declares that such tours around Europe with a Shakespeare play begun in 1957, and goes on to quote Fry's own experiences with the group, which he stated gave "amateur performances which a pro would be proud of".
