SIGMA set to headline St Catz May Ball

St Catz College have announced that Sigma will be playing their May Ball this summer. The drum & base duo, who formed whilst at university in Leeds, are best known for their remix of Kanye West’s ‘Bound 2', which topped the UK charts last month.

The May Ball will be the college’s first since 2010; in 2012 it was cancelled due to building works, and last year it was announced that the event would not take place as had been planned, amid fears that coordinating deliveries to St Catz and neighbouring Queens’ events might prove unworkable.

The London-based pair, who toured the UK earlier this year, have just released a new record called ‘Rude Boy’ featuring Doctor. Their rework of Kanye West’s track, entitled ‘Nobody To Love’, sold over 121,000 copies in its first week, becoming the third best-selling single this year.

Simon Sowerby, Head of Ents at St Catz May Ball, said that the headliners "have been rocking it on the drum and base scene for some time", and that he was "confident they’ll provide a great performance". Another member of the Committee added that the duo "play a really exciting style of music that everybody will be able to get behind."

Students at St Catz reacted with excitement to the news. Elliot, a second year, commended the committee on what he described as a ‘fantastic signing’. He remarked that they have "truly done a remarkable job in drawing in such a huge act", which he argued was "better than Justin."
