Student punches lecturer

5 February 2010

A student from James Watt College in Greenock was ordered to pay £200 in compensation to his lecturer, Mr McKenna, after punching him in the head after a night out. William Allen, 23, got angry after Mr Mckenna changed his mind about letting him stay overnight at his house, and vented his anger with a punch in Burger King. A member of staff called the police. Mr McKenna had achieved fame in the past by discovering the iconic band the Stone Roses in 1988. Their lead singer, Ian Brown, is now a patron of the college’s Centre of Music and Performing Arts.
