Students vote “Yes” on both counts

Final results have been released on both Cambridge University Student’s Union (CUSU) referenda. Gerard Tully, the CUSU Returning Officer has now confirmed the results as official.

Should CUSU be affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS) for 2010/11?

Votes Cast: 3447

Total eligible registered voters: 20,821

“Yes” 2254 votes – 65.39%

“No” 1163 votes – 33.74%

(blank) 30 votes – 0.87%

The referendum was passed (and the turnout threshold of 10% was reached).

For the replacement of the CUSU Welfare Officer with a CUSU and Graduate Union Student Support Officer and a full-time student advisor?

Votes Cast: 2878

Total eligible registered voters: 20,821

“Yes” 2632 votes 91.45%

“No” 223 votes 7.75%

(blank) 23 votes 0.8%

The referendum was passed (and the turnout threshold of 10% was reached).
