TCS Mixtape Week 3

1. Bright Eyes – At the bottom of everything

In the opening track off his brilliant album, Bright Eyes gently picks apart American ideals and contradictions.

2. Radiohead – Kid A

“The most vicious thing I’ve ever sung”. I slipped on a little white lie.

3. Black Eyed Peas – Where is the love?

From the LA hiphop group’s third album, this is a dancetastic pacifist tune.

4. Nena – 99 Luftballons

This dancefloor classic criticizes war and reactionary politics. 99 balloons cause apocalyptic war.

5. Guillemots – Trains to Brazil

A tribute to Jean Charles de Menezes, murdered on the London underground in 2005.

6. Vampire Weekend – Mansard Roof

This is a perfect example of Vampire Weekend’s political and social commentary infused indie rock.

7. Bob Dylan – The Times They Are A Changing

“The archetypal protest song, aiming to ride upon the unvoiced sentiment of a mass public.”

8. The Killers – All These Things That I’ve Done

An epic tune where The Killers examine the exploitation, actions and eventual remorse of a soldier.

Next week’s theme, will be: anti-Valentine’s
