A week after winning their division, Cambridge lost 12-0 to Leeds Met in the BUCS Cup on Wednesday.

In doubles, Gerald Wu and Jamie Muirhead had a poor start and trailed 0-5. Although they stepped up, it was too late as they lost 1-6, 3-6. Robert Legg and Sam Kemp were not clinical enough. Only winning one of eight sudden-death deuces, they lost 2-6, 0-6.

In singles, Gerald Wu played his best match of the year but could not keep up with the tempo of play, losing 4-6, 4-6. At no. 2, Robert Legg had no answer to his opponent’s powerful serves and forehand, eventually losing 2-6, 1-6.

Jamie Muirhead raced to a 5-1 lead. However, momentum quickly swung away from him, as he lost 7-6, 1-6, 1-6. At no. 4, Sam Kemp fought hard but match rustiness saw him lose 3-6, 2-6.
