This year’s Varsity Trip destination revealed

TCS can reveal that this year’s Varsity Trip will be returning to Val Thorens. The resort is, at 2300m, the highest and most snow-sure in Europe, offering access to over 600km of piste across the epic Three Valleys ski area, which is sure to tempt the more diehard skiers to take part. However, as anyone who has been on the Varsity Trip before can attest, there is far more to the experience than simply skiing: Val Thorens boasts some of the best nightlife in the Alps, including Folie Douce, a venue famous for its après ski parties.

Speaking in an interview with TCS, vice-president Anthony Rubinstein described how the committee are now busy planning a busy week of packed events, featuring the usual mix of chart-topping headliners (previous years have featured Rudimental and Calvin Harris) and the age-old rivalry of the cuppers tournament and the Blues Races (which actually predate the Winter Olympics). However, there is one event which breaks the tried-and-tested mould, new for this year – Europe’s highest powder paint fight.

The decision to return to Val Thorens comes following two consecutive visits to Tignes, which suffered last year from insufficient snow, a problem the new destination will hopefully avoid.

To celebrate the announcement, the committee decided to take a rather unusual tactic: releasing a video of a small, cuddly marmot toy called Arnaud, who was launched into space from Cambridge via a helium balloon.
