Women’s rugby too good for Lutterworth

Cambridge women’s rugby team overturned an early 5-0 deficit to demolish Lutterworth 60-5 last Sunday.

At the start, Lutterworth scored first to lead 5-0. From then on, the Light Blues dominated. A good run and off-load from Tia Knight to Sian McGuiness saw the latter scoring. Molly Byrne increased the Blues’ lead by taking the ball off the back of a ruck on the try line and scoring easily to bring the half-time score to 15-5.

In the second half, Jess Gurney offloaded to McGuiness, who sprinted down the pitch and scored under the posts. Further tries by Bryony Combs, Knight and Gurney extended Cambridge’s lead to 46-5.

Knight completed her hat-trick of tries, while another well-deserved try from Gurney completed the rout 60-5.
